PGA Professional Championship

Belfair was selected to host the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, the world's largest all-professional event. Scheduled to be played April 28-May 1, 2019, the 52nd edition of the PGA Professional Championship was conducted for the first time in the spring.

The 312-player PGA Professional Championship field is comprised of players who advance from the 41 PGA Section Championships, along with past champions. The low 20 scorers at Belfair earned a berth in the 2019 PGA Championship on May 16-19, 2019 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. All four rounds of the PGA Professional Championship broadcasted live on the Golf Channel to nearly 1 Million viewers during all four rounds of the Championship.

History of the PGA Professional Championship

ABOUT THE PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 

Begun in 1968, The PGA Professional Championship provides additional playing opportunities for PGA Professionals. The showcase event for PGA Professionals features a 312-player field representing 41 PGA Sections competing at the peak of their games, and with its 20 top finishers earning a berth in the PGA Championship. 

The National Championship was first televised live by Golf Channel in 1997 and has a potential audience of more than 110 million. 

HISTORY OF THE PGA OF AMERICA 

The PGA of America was established in 1916 to promote the game of golf and enhance the careers of PGA golf professionals. Since that time, the PGA of America has grown into the world's largest working sports organization, with a staff of over 200 people daily servicing the needs of more than 28,000 men and women PGA members and apprentices. The PGA of America is not affiliated with the PGA TOUR or PGA National Resort and Spa. All three entities are separate corporations servicing different segments of the golf industry.
