Rod brings over 20 years of experience in progressive accounting and financial management roles. Rod is joining us from Empire Properties/Empire Eats in Raleigh, NC where he serves as CFO.
Empire owns and manages nearly a million square feet of commercial real estate in Raleigh, NC as well as eight restaurants and a catering company. At Empire, Rod oversaw the accuracy and integrity of the Empire Properties and Empire Eats financial information as well as all of the accounting functions for the real estate, property management, construction, brokerage and restaurant divisions.
Before joining Empire in 2019, Rod spent 11 years at Implus LLC, a consumer goods distributor in Durham, NC, where he served as Controller, VP of Finance and, ultimately, CFO. He also has experience as an auditor in public accounting at local CPA firms in Wilmington, DE, and Raleigh, NC and as the Controller for a local contractor in Cary, NC. Rod obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. He is also a licensed CPA in North Carolina and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Rod is very familiar with the Lowcountry as he has owned a condo on Hilton Head Island for several years and vacationed in the area often.
