Congratulations to Denise Washington, the Sandi Hardwicke Outstanding Employee Award Winner for February

Please extend congratulations to Denise Washington, Belfair's Banquet Chef, for being recognized as the Sandi Hardwicke Associate of the Month for February 2024.

Throughout numerous changes in our Food and Beverage department, Denise has remained a constant, reliable, and positive support for the 1811 Grille Kitchen.

Denise, a native of Beaufort, has deep roots in the community, with much of her family still residing there today. She takes pride in being the mother of five children—four girls and one boy—and cherishes her role as grandma to five beautiful grandchildren.
Denise's culinary journey began at a young age, cooking side by

side with her mother and grandmother. At 16, she took her first job at Wendy's, followed by a decade in retail, and then positions at several local clubs before joining Belfair. Her tenure at Belfair commenced as a Line Cook at the Bistro, progressing to lead Line Cook, Sous Chef, and currently, she leads the banqueting team as Chef.

Cooking and food are not just professions for Denise—they are passions. On her days off, she can often be found cooking for family and friends, crabbing, fishing, or enjoying the outdoors. Her compassionate nature shines through her cooking, as she finds joy in enriching lives through her culinary creations. She values the Belfair Membership greatly and takes pride in showcasing her talents. In the coming years, she aspires to become an Executive Chef, eager to continue learning and growing in her field.

As for her dreams, Denise harbors a desire to visit Alaska one day—but only for vacation!
